Rhoda Seidenberg, associate curator, leads a special tour of the Erfurt treasure at the Yeshiva University Museum. Scholars believe that a Jewish merchant or moneylender hid this rare cache of medieval coins and gold and silver jewelry just before the 1349 massacre of Erfurt Jews because of the Black Death and other persecutions, thus preserving the Gothic artifacts. Yeshiva University Museum is the only North American venue for this remarkable exhibition, running until January 29, 2009.
